My Favorite Time of Day Equals Hope

Is there a specific time of day you find special? A time of day that stands out to you? A time you look forward to? If so, you need to document that time of day in some scrappy need to get yourself over to These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things and enter it in our current challenge. And it doesn't have to be a "morning, noon or night" time of day either. Maybe it is your early-morning-cup-of-coffee-time. Or how about family-dinner-time. It may be time in the shower. LOL! I laugh now, but there was a time in my life when my kiddos were small that I lived for my shower was the only time I seemed to have to myself. I was never able to find solitude when sitting on the porcelain throne, but shower time brought blissful silence...if only for a few minutes. Makes you wonder why they would want to interrupt mommy's "potty" time??? Go figure. LOL!

As with most of our challenges, I find it hard to narrow the subject down to a single favorite. But once I give it more thought, it never fails that something begins to stand out. You wouldn't believe the choices I mulled over for this one. Quitting time at work, nap time, workout time, scrap time. As I was trying ever so unsuccessfully to narrow it down to one, I came across this photo. It is the view outside my kitchen window just as the sun is rising above the trees. I had totally forgotten I had snapped this's several years old. I knew then what I wanted to document.

The reason this holds such special meaning for me is wrapped up in when and why I took the photo. When I was first separated from my ex-husband, there were many dark days. In fact, most days were dark days. It was the only time in my life where I saw total darkness when I tried to envision my future. But one morning, just as I was getting ready to send the kids off to school, I looked outside my window and there it was....hope. From that day forward, I would take a few minutes to stand at that window and tell myself there was hope in every sunrise. At first, I wasn't sure I believed what I was saying. But as they say, if you repeat something to yourself enough, you eventually begin to believe it. I took this photo to carry with me as a constant reminder that a new day will come.

My journaling reads: This is the view from my kitchen window...early morning just as the sun is coming up. So many times I catch myself standing at that window contemplating all the new day will bring.

Funny how it took me stumbling upon this photo to remember this point. Don't get me wrong, I still frequently stand at that window and welcome a new day. But I no longer have the desparate need to convince myself hope exists. Hope is a part of my life...a huge part of my life. Something I pray to never lose sight of again.

Hope you are feeling better and had a good week and have an even better weekend. I used some of grungeboard to make a mask (don't know if you saw it on my blog or now). It has such an interesting texture and it's so cool that you can curve it. thanks again!

  6. I love the meaning of the word Hope and that is why we gave our girls the middle names Hope and Faith.
Your journalling is incredible as always and your layout is beautiful.
As for the NO alone time on the potty thing, I SO SO feel ya. I still have little people that love to visit me while on the throne and that is why once a month I attend a crop at my LSS : )
Wishing you a wonderful weekend my friend!
    (((((BIG hugs)))))

  7. Umm.... not only did I never have alone time, even on the potty, Bryn used to come in, back up (literally... like she was driving a car or something) & sit on my lap. All I could ever think was, this girl REALLY loves me. LOL! :-)

BEAUTIFUL LO... your masking really rocks on there! And I really ♥ the meaning behind your beautiful photo.

Hope you're having a GREAT weekend, Lisa!

  9. I loved this LO when I saw it on TAAFOMFT & now I've heard the story behind it it seems even more special! Thanks for sharing your positive message of hope!

I can so remember 'escaping' to the shower, & demands for cuddles while on the loo!! Motherhood kills all dignity!! But I wouldn't have missed it for the world!!

    {{{Hugs}}} x

  10. I love your LO and the meaning behind it. It is really nice to see something mean so much to someone. :O) Hope you are having a good week!

  11. First of all, beautiful layout and reading through your post brought tears to my eyes..I'm very sentimental lately! Second, right now with my kids being almost 4 and 2 I have no potty time that is alone, and I kill for my "shower time". God, it is good to feel a nice hot shower and for a few minutes have peace in that shower! I so understand that. You amaze me not only with your layouts, but with your very touching stories. You really inspire me to journal more, to write more and to remember that it is all about the stories of our lives! Thank you so much. Love, jess

  12. Beautiful layout!

My favorite time of day is 5:00 a.m. Quiet, coffee, never an interruption. I can run, scrap, play on the computer...whatever I want. I've scrapped this topic more than once :)

  13. What a gorgeous page, Lisa!
I love how you created the title to mimic a sunrise.
My favorite time is late night...when everyone is asleep...then I get to scrap in peace :)
Hope you had a nice weekend

  14. Lovely story and LO...thanks for sharing your bra too! Great!

  15. Wow Lisa, this brings tears to my eyes.
I am so glad that you shared this story with us.
I was standing in line at the store the other day and the cashier asked the man in front of me how he was.
He replied, "Well I woke up this morning so it's a beautiful day".
That really struck a chord with me.
    Life truly is fragile.
    Thanks for sharing your perspective.

Your layout is stunning, the misting is awesome! And I really love how you used your letters as a mask.

As far as kids following you everywhere, even the bathroom, my kids know how to pick the bathroom door lock! Little stinkers...

  16. Love this Lisa! Love the story behind it too. I get up about 45 minutes earlier than everyone else so I can take a long hot shower and drink an equally warm mug of coffee before all the chaos of the morning begins.

  17. This is awesome!! I love the story it tells!!

  18. LOVE your story. :) hope is definitely something to get us through the day! :)

  19. I really like your Sunrise layout. It made me contemplate what my favorite time day is....

I am so NOT a morning person, and so wish I was. The few times I have encountered a sunrise- I loved it... but, I guess not enough to get out of bed for it!!

  20. Hi Lisa! Here is the link to Karens blog...still in it's infancy, but I know she'd love that you popped by!!

  21. Beautiful layout! Love the story behind it.

  22. Very nice LO! Love everything you write!
p.s.: Have you received the card I sent you?
    A Halloween card.

    Have a great week!

  23. Beautiful and touching layout...thank you so much for sharing yet another little piece of yourself!
